Towards inland and coastal water monitoring using hyperspectral data
Proposers: Mariana Soppa, Astrid Bracher, Claudia Giardino
Most of the applications and studies on inland and coastal waters still use multispectral satellites as only very few hyperspectral spaceborne sensors were/are suited for observing water targets. Yet, the use of imaging spectroscopy for water application is gaining force and will see rapid development in the next years with the launch of DESIS and PRISMA sensors and the emerging EnMAP and PACE missions. This session aims to present and discuss the state-of-the-art and perspectives of the use of hyperspectral spaceborne or airborne platforms for inland and coastal water studies. It will address all aspects of water hyperspectral remote sensing, from sensor validation and algorithm development to application. Multi-disciplinary and multi-sensors studies are welcomed, as well as contributions on challenges and new opportunities for inland and coastal water monitoring.
